Free Bazaar
Free Bazaar is an unconventional, recurring event set in the heart of Downtown San Francisco's financial district. Nestled amongst the bustling streets and towering skyscrapers, this unique experience challenges the status quo and offers a refreshing contrast to the capitalistic environment that surrounds it.
Positioned at the exit of a major commuter hub, Free Bazaar subverts the typical advertising ploy of enticing people with "free" offers to subscribe to a service. Instead, we provide genuinely free, ephemeral experiences that spark curiosity and invite reflection on the nature of freedom, agency, and the power of choice in our daily lives.
By presenting fleeting moments of joy, connection, and creativity, Free Bazaar encourages passersby to question the prescribed narrative of the typical commuter and embrace the possibility of a different attitude as they greet the day. The event serves as a reminder that there is value in the intangible, and that not everything in life can or should be commodified.
Initially conceived by a group of friends, Myko Huff has taken the reins since 2020, organizing the event and supplying poster materials to create an ever-evolving array of "Free" experiences.
